Jame’s Story

In My Father’s Kitchen

We have known James for over 3 years. Since we have known him he has ridden out 3 winters outdoors and has been on the streets for over 20 years. He was a survivor who was invisible. James would always keep to himself and was a loner. He was always gracious towards IMFK when he would receive lunches, clothing or the toiletries we supplied. But, when asked to consider coming indoors he would always say he was all set.

Two months ago a beautiful article on James was written by Kevin Rivoli (from the Syracuse Media Group) and published by Syracuse.com. The article told James’ story which brought awareness to James and also opened the door for James to feel comfortable in receiving assistance to come indoors. IMFK is so excited to say that James received keys to his new apartment on October 1st. Many private individuals and agencies worked together to get James into this apartment. Each having a heart for James.

IMFK would like to personally thank Mary McClaughlin, Jim McKeever, Kevin Rivoli, Adam & Kim Weitsman and all you Sous Chefs who have stepped into make this day a reality for James. BIG thank you to CNY Services for accepting Jame into your program to make sure that he will be successful in his new environment indoors.

Now that James is in his own apartment IMFK will be there for him to ensure he has everything he needs to set up his new home and begin this new chapter in his life.

Proverbs 11:25 says that “the generous will prosper and that those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
